Il Bacio - La Veduta

Il Bacio

“Thank you so much to Sandra and Paul for sharing their Place in the Sun. When I saw il Bacio on the website I dared to dream it was as good as it looked and it certainly was! We go back to Australia with fond memories of Tuscany, her people and La Torre. I will be recommending you to our friends both here and in UK and you never know one day we may come visit again, hope so. By the way if you do make the big trip down under please let us know as there is always room at our home. ”

Jan & Mick, Canberra, Australia. October 2008

“This is a wonderful place to relax and yet not far from "civilisation" and the little shop in Bagnoro is so convenient. We did find the chocolates (and we ate them!) So many lovely special touches, so much thought put into it, this cottage is perfect just like a dolls' house. Thank you Sandra and Paul for your assistance in sightseeing trips and lending us Vaz for our lovely walks. We loved it here, everything is beautiful. Again thank you for our wonderful two weeks."

Boo Hoo.... We're back in England....We were so sad to leave the cottage and La Torre and it did not feel as if we had spent a fortnight there! I am taking the risk of repeating myself (a sign of old age I am told), but you have found a really wonderful house and so conveniently located, it is fantastic! Not to mention the special dog and his silly games! (email)

Maurice & Jocelyn, UK and France. October 2008

“A special thank you to Paul and Sandra for sharing their beautiful, tranquil home with us. Their hospitality has been second to none and they couldn't have been more kind providing everything that we needed. Here we have managed to stop the world and get off for a few days. Cortona, Lucignano, Siena and of course Arezzo were all excellent days out. There were two highlights to the week - the cooking course with Sandra and the company of Vaz! We shall miss you all and hope to return one day soon. Many thanks!!”

Ray & Wendie, Dorset,UK. September 2008

“We have enjoyed a wonderful week in this lovely cottage in Toscana - it has been a beautiful experience, just what we were looking for - idylic! Great weather, great countryside, great food, etc. etc. etc!!! Thanks to Sandra and Paul for being such great hosts - loved the home-made conserves and fresh fruit from the garden! Hope to be back some time to do some more exploring."

Bonnie and Peter, Prince Albert, Canada. September 2008

“Paradise found!! ”

"Sandra and Paul - what can we say? Hosts par excellence!! Two (too) short weeks in a fantastic location which exceeded even our greatest expectations. Il Bacio is totally unique and the perfect romantic escape. Your helpful advice/tips helped us enjoy several great day trips (and stocked up Linda's shoe wardrobe). You made our first night (Linda's 50th) particularly special, thank you again for that. We take home many happy memories and your lovely olive oil, and look forward to arranging our next visit. Thank you again and a special pat for Vaz.”

John & Linda, Hertfordshire,UK. August 2008

“il Bacio is just how I imagine the house in Goldilocks to be. Not that Sandra, Paul and Vaz are the three bears but instead three fantastic hosts. The pool has been our best place to relax and plan our adventures beyond La Torre. Cortona, Anghiari, Siena, Arezzo, San Gimignano are amazing and we'd highly recommend any of them. (Thank you Paul for bringing out our lust for exploration). We will keep fond memories of Vaz's amusements, tricks and laughs. Last but not least, thank you Sandra for being such a wonderful and yet discreet hostess. Many thanks.” p.s. Did we mention how much we loved the pool?

Isabelle & John, Paris and Dublin. August 2008

“We have had such a wonderful time here in il Bacio – we’re frescoed out! Sandra and Paul have been so helpful – including taking in our washing when we were out when a freak storm came up. Perfect location and easy to get everywhere (Italian roads were surprisingly pleasant!). Great trips to Siena and especially Anghiari – beautiful hilltown with a great cheap pizzeria in the main square. Thank you both so much! x.”

Gemma & Andy, Londn,UK. July 2008

“Just catching some final rays by the glorious pool… how time flies when you’re having fun. We’ve had a great week in il Bacio, it has been everything we expected and more. Sandra and Paul have been great hosts and we have really benefitted from their local knowledge. They’re here for you if you need them but never intrusive. We particularly enjoyed La Cantintta de Rignano with glorious view over Chianti. Vaz has kept us amused with his obsessive guarding of his toys. We will both look back on our times at La Torre with very fond memories.”

Katherine & Chris, London, UK. July 2008

“Not sure how much the birds get paid but they deserve every penny! The joy of being woken by birdsong, their busy conversations accompanying you on walks, the dwindling babble long after sunset and the final prize.... sometimes waking to hear the owls hunting in the woods. It's a gorgeous place and feels like the place in the country you've always wanted to make. Thank you Sandra and Paul for making it for us. With warm regards.”

Andy and Trish, Sydney, Australia. June 2008

“Our last evening sitting outside, drinking a bottle of 2 euro red! How time flies when you are having fun, and we have! Sightseeing, sitting around the numerous cafes watching the world go by and generally chilling out. We have had a wonderful time, we will be back - certainly. I wonder if everyone finds the chocolates - it took me 5 mins. but then I'm nosey.”

Richard and Carol, Cheshire, UK.June 2008

“After several frantically busy months we were looking for a Tuscan idyll that would give us a complete get away. We couldn't possibly have chosen better. La Torre's setting, grounds and facilities are perfect. And of course, the hospitality and attention to detail of Sandra, Paul and Vaz,(though the latter's primary attention was with his toys) have made the experience complete. Not for nothing is the earlier description of Sandra as a one-woman resource centre echoed by us. We have every intention of coming back to La Torre and we don't say that about many places we visit.”

David and Joa, London, UK. May 2008

“Many thanks to Sandra and Paul for your warm hospitality and many wonderful thoughtful touches - the welcome treats, the great ideas on where to visit, the charming and comfortable surroundings. We have so enjoyed this part of our vacation. I have left the address of that restaurant which does the most amazing Fiorentina, and, if you are ever in Vancouver you must call! With appreciation.”

Janice & Steve. Vancouver, Canada. May 2008

“Dear Sandra and Paul, What a lovely week! The website does not do La Torre justice, although I supppose it is much better to be very pleasantly surprised than disappointed; and we not NOT disappointed Anyone who has not beat, chopped, cut, diced, minced, rolled, seared and stewed in Sandra's tower has not had a full visit to La Torre, the cooking course was fantastic - really good fun and we learnt lots too! Thank you for the maps and travel tips allowing us to navigate our way throught the winding roads in Tuscany, Umbria and hopefully (successfully) to the airport at Pisa. We have enjoyed ourselves immensely and you have taught us so much”

James & Barbara. Miami, Florida, USA . April 2008

“It has been a long-anticipated trip back to Italy, 30 years since we last explored the country as young backpackers, not sure where to go or how best to appreciate what we did see. Now we have come back to ‘see’ what our young eyes missed way back then. We hadn’t been to Tuscany at all and friends recommended La Torre as the perfect location to explore the region. Making our way out of Florence we somehow hit the A1 to Arezzo and made our way to this special place. The warm welcome we received from Sandra & Paul stripped away the tiredness of the day. We then sat down to a beautiful dinner which kept us going for another day and a half! This stop in our travels gave us the much needed space to reflect, dream and just be. Tuscany is beautiful, historic and full of marvels many of which are locked away in our camera, while La Torre is locked away in our hearts. Thank you Paul & Sandra for providing the comfort and space to just be and to ‘the tail wagging the dog’ Vaz who kind of summed up how we felt each day here – happy!”

Tony & Barbara. Sydney, Australia. October 2007

“What a wonderful place Tuscany is – the food, the wine, the people and the landscape. We have fallen in love and just can’t wait to come back. Thank you so much Sandra and Paul for sharing this little slice of heaven with us and being such good hosts/tour guides/cooks and all manner of other things. We’ll miss Vaz’s wagging tail! The only down side – it went by far too quickly!”

Nichola & Mark. Santa Barbara, California, USA. October 2007

“Thank you both for our lovely week in il Bacio – it had everything we needed - it was so clean and well presented. The arrival supper was wonderful; we didn’t get to finish it until Sunday! We especially appreciated your readiness to offer expert advice when we needed it and the route you suggested to Siena was wonderful. We loved Vaz popping by – he is such a star!”

Jan & John. Cambridgeshire, England. September 2007

“Bellissimo – We have read all the other comments and can only echo them. Thank you for your extraordinary hospitality during our stay with you and sharing your dream in this little ‘piece of heaven’. Your advice on places to go was so helpful, it definitely made our trip even more wonderful and memorable. We had a great time and you made our holiday the most relaxed ever! Many thanks again.”

Trevor & Nicki. Kent, England. September 2007

“We’ve had a lovely week here in il Bacio. We’ve enjoyed Arezzo as a base for our trips to Cortona, Siena, San Gimingano, Montpulciano and the Chianti countryside. There are many lovely restaurants in Arezzo, we tried a different one every night and not a bad meal was had. Thank you Sandra, Paul & Vaz for making us feel so welcome.”

Steve & Julie. London, UK. August 2007

“Thank you for sharing with us this truly special place. We have spent a wonderful week in il Bacio and are sorry to see it some to an end. As regular visitors, Tuscany never fails to impress!!!”

William & Bryony. London, UK. August 2007

“Our second visit to il Bacio – last year, 1 week was not enough – this year we have proved that two weeks isn’t either! In spite of being ribbed for our lack of adventure, we have enjoyed our various visits to Arezzo, Siena, Lucignano and Cortona. A day trip to Rome, courtesy of Eurostar and an open-topped sightseeing bus was superb and very reasonable. Sistine Chapel, St. Peters and the Colosseum et al – all in a day! It has been wonderfully warm and we have thoroughly enjoyed doing nothing! As well as the relaxed attentions of Sandra and Paul, Vaz, the incomparable, four-legged butler/courtjester has continued to entertain us. Can’t wait to see you all again!”

Richard & Debbie. Essex, UK. July 2007

“il Bacio is perfect – cute and beautifully appointed. It has been a wonderful week, especially having my son Tom and his fiancée “next door” in La Veduta. We have been very spoilt having the lovely gardens and pool to ourselves. We loved Arezzo and the surrounding area – so many frescoes and so much history!! Hope to be back very soon.”

Sue. Worcs, UK. July 2007

"As the final week of our honeymoon , il Bacio was the perfect place to spend it. The location, accommodation and scenery were all perfect and the hospitality of Sandra and Paul made our stay even more enjoyable. Can’t wait to come back!!"

Emma & Lee. Co. Down, N.Ireland. June 2007

"Our long-awaited holiday in il Bacio has come and gone… we have had a fantastic week, the towns and cities were wonderful but what we most enjoyed was the peace and tranquility at La Torre, the beautiful surroundings, the pool, the scenery and of course, how could we not mention the wonderful Vaz . What a character. Thank you so much Paul and Sandra, for our much needed “therapy”, we return to the UK revitalized. We hope to be back soon."

Joanne & George. Northamptonshire, UK. June 2007

"We have enjoyed a week of peace and tranquility here at La Torre – a blissful bit of Tuscan paradise. We want to name this mini idyll – La Casa piccolo nell’albero because it really is like being in a little tree house when you peek out of the bedroom window to the green beyond. We enjoyed it all, many thanks to Sandra for lots of helpful advice and tips."

Philippa & Dave. London, UK. June 2007

"After five hectic days in Florence , il Bacio was everything we could ask for – and more. We have enjoyed exploring the area, with the Piero della Francesca exhibition, Cortona and a drive around Chianti being our particular highlights. But most of all we have enjoyed the tranquility at La Torre – watching the sunrise over the hills and the fireflies under the stars. And of course, not forgetting Vaz – bundles of fun and the perfect hairy companion! We leave with fond memories and hope to return in the future. Until then… Forza La Torre!"

Jillian & Barry. Edinburgh, Scotland. May 2007

"Thank you for our lovely stay and your generous hospitality – we felt so welcome in il Bacio. We really felt like guests rather than tenants which immediately adds to the feeling of rest and relaxation. We had a lovely week and would thoroughly recommend the ‘Views of Tuscany’ day trip mentioned in the big folder. A must for any keen photographer. Vas was a delightful companion and we hope to come back soon."

Alex & Diana. Cheltenham, UK. May 2007

"Il Bacio is definitely worth travelling 1284 kilometres by car from the Netherlands! We enjoyed the beautiful view from La Torre onto Arezzo as well as the beautiful plants and flowers in the garden. We visited lots of medieval places, but we preferred the quiet little ones. When we go back we will miss the Vas welcome walk by the side of the car. Hope to see you all again. Loving Greetings."

Zafer & Geesje, The Netherlands. May 2007

"The two weeks were fantastic! Everything was so beautiful and the weather was great. Thanks for your help, we had a chance to see so many great cities and countryside. This vacation went by way too quickly!! Hopefully we will be back again."

Alex & Michele. Cooperstown, NY, USA. April 2007

"Two weeks at La Torre – and we are reminded of just what makes ‘Life Beautiful’. Sandra and Paul thank you for sharing all this with us. It was wonderful."

Shirley & Rob. Gills Rocks, WI, USA. April 2007

"Life at il Bacio a year on... is every bit as good as we remember it if not better. The weather this time was perfect, warm with beautiful blue skies. We have spent more time at La Torre this time and less time gallavanting about, but we did manage to climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa and exhaust ourselves and made the must-do trip to Assisi which was beautiful. We would highly recommend it. As usual Paul and Sandra have made sure we had everything we needed. We have definitely decided that Vaz has the most perfect life here, what with great surroundings, doting owners and daft guests to keep you entertained, who says its a dogs life. I, for one would like to come back as Vaz. This is perfect. We will be back! Again and again."

Marlyn & Ernie. Scotland. October 2006

"We arrived late to a warm, torch-light welcome. Next morning we woke up hearing the birds outside the little window. When you then open up the shutters and the light floods in, you feel good - as we did that first morning and every morning since. This place is beautiful - it is just as simple as that. We agree with many other guests that Sandra and Paul and friendly, warm and never intrusive. There is a peaceful atmosphere here and we appreciated that. We had a great time here in il Bacio and it is fun to cook in the kitchen closet... especially with all the goodies that Italian shops can provide. Thank you for everything.

Gabriel & Sanne, USA/Denmark. October 2006

"Sandra, Paul and of course, Vaz: Grazie! We truly had a wonderful two weeks with you here at La Torre. Your hospitality and accommodations were the highlight of our trip to Tuscany with parents Tim and Liz (in La Veduta). We enjoyed our time with Vaz - he filled what could have been a "dog void" for two weeks! We appreciated all of your directions and advice on our day trips, restaurants, foods etc. You certainly have found your calling here in the Tuscan hills. Thank you for making our stay such a delightful and memorable one! With Warm Regards."

Sarah and Edwin. Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. September 2006

"How to describe il Bacio - small but perfectly formed! We came to celebrate 25 years of marriage and to enjoy the ancient charm of La Torre. Sandra and Paul and genuinely hospitable and Vaz has been dutifully attentive. A holiday that will be remembered for a long tme to come. Next time we shall give ourselves two weeks as time has just flown by! Kindest Regards.

Wendy & Chris. Chichester, England. September 2006

"We have loved il Bacio! And you have looked after us so beautifully - with amazing dinner on arrival and goodies in the fridge and chocolates secreted in the bedroom! We've had a wonderful time exploring Tuscan treasures, then returning to La Bella Torre. Hospitality as warm as the Tuscan Sun. A perfect Honeymooners' Haven. Mille Grazie xx"

Charlotte and Andrew, London, UK August 2006

"We have never travelled to Italy before but we certainly will again. The warmth of your welcome, your enthusiasm for all things Italian, your guidance and many kindnesses have made our holiday a "five +" star rated experience. After a week, we still do not understand Vaz's game, but he is always so pleased to see us it hardly seems to matter! His charms and excellent canine manners will long be remembered.
Sincere thanks and much love"

Richard & Debbie, Essex, UK August 2006

"The landscape in Tuscany is everything I imagined it would be - but La Torre was even more wonderful than I expected. Thank you Paul and Sandra for creating such a beautiful retreat."
"I have challenged Paul to get up each morning and run down the hill to Bagnoro and back - to impress us with how fit he is … and then to do it wearing full armour - that's part of the heritage that comes with owning such an historic site. Don't' miss the little church in Bagnoro, the castle at Poppi and loads more. Il Bacio is great - everything you need in a cosy package. Thanks again."

Jan & Tom Starnes, Austin, Texas, USA July 2006

"Having been to Tuscany before our expectations were high, but the two big "H's" of La Torre (History and Hospitality) have way surpassed anything we could have imagined. Many thanks to Sandra and Paul and not forgetting Vaz, whose kindness and helpfulness made for an unforgettable experience. This place really is 'Heaven under the Tuscan Sun'".

Mike & Angela, Liverpool, UK. July 2006

"Fireflies at night - so peaceful! A beautiful outlook and such a relaxing break from the stresses of town. Sandra and Paul thanks for your hospitality and sharing your beautiful surroundings. Oh! Nearly forgot to mention eating out - which is another reason why it is such a treat to come to this part of Italy. A big thank you to Vaz for helping me not miss my own dog too much. A Super week and we hope to return next year"

Christine & Cliff. Oxfordshire, UK June 2006

A beautiful and rural setting; a tranquil place from which to experience Tuscany away from the city. During the warm weather it has been bliss to enjoy the garden, views, pool and hillside breeze. We walked to the top of Monte Lignano - the wild flowers and butterflies were abundant; we saw hoopoos, tree creapers, and in the evening enjoyed the fire fly display. Sandra and Paul have perfected the art of good hosts, of being ready to chat, around if needed, but never making us feel awkward about just being here, revelling in La Torre at whatever time of day - whilst the handsome Vaz offered us company and games.
Thank you - we have had a wonderful, relaxing and happy week.

Andrew & Gill, Harrogate, UK June 2006

La Torre has been a beautiful and relaxing haven for a week yet so close to Arezzo and many other interesting places.
Thank you Paul, Sandra and Vaz, you have been wonderful hosts. We loved the wagging tail and smile from Vaz as we opened our door each morning. Il Bacio is the sweetest cottage and provided everything we needed. We loved waking to the sun sparkling through the window, hearing the birds and the hum of Oswaldo and his old tractor next door - all part of the rural (real) life in Tuscany.
Grazie mille and we hope to see you soon.

Sandra & Trevor, Melbourne, Australia, May 2006

We have had a lovely few days here on our third visit to La Torre - our first in il Bacio.
It is the cutest cottage and very comfortable. We have relaxed, eaten well and pottered around but the main pleasure is meeting up again with Sandra, Paul and of course Vaz! Hospitable and very kind. We love it here and we will be back.

Margaret & Wendy, Rockcliffe, Scotland, April 2006

Our second visit this year, this time to il Bacio, for a much needed renewal of energy. We much appreciated the many finishing touches, enjoyed peaceful days and long walks but wonderful visits to Florence, Poppi and Anghiari weren't to be missed though - and the train ride to Florence was so simple.
Warm, helpful, but discrete hosts, Sandra and Paul made the week perfect. Now we know the hard labour that goes into olive picking. See you soon!

Ann & Dave, Oxfordshire. November 2005

Our first time in Italy and extremely impressed, especially by La Torre. Il Bacio is a wonderful, wee haven, cosy and with everything to hand. We've had a wonderful week, done and seen lots of things. The train service in Italy is fantastic, it took us to Rome and Florence and back! The roads about here are spectacular too, especially to San Marino. The hill towns are a must, especially impressed by Cortona and Anghiari.
Especially enjoyed Vaz's company and Paul and Sandra you have been great hosts, providing everything we needed. We will definitely be back.

Marlyn & Ernie, Scotland. October 2005

Il Bacio is the perfect 'gingerbread' house and is like a Tardis with all the nooks and crannies. Vaz was always the perfect host: never late for breakfast, always ready for sports, long walks and very charming with the ladies. He was helped from time to time by Sandra and Paul, who ensured that our every need was met. We will return some time soon and check progress - don't spoil it!

Jon & Jan, UK. September 2005

We’ve had the most fantastic week here in our little house. The weather turned warm and sunny and we enjoyed walks with Vas, you’re very lucky we haven’t stolen him! He is the dog to end all dogs! La Torre is a beautiful, serene place and a week spent here has left us so relaxed. I’ll never forget our mornings waking to the sunlight filtering through the walnut tree. Had some great trips out – Siena, Cortona, Sansepolcro etc. but my advice – make sure you spend time doing nothing but enjoying the views, air and stillness. Sandra and Paul have been lovely and I’d definitely recommend a massage by Sandra – a real treat! Words are not enough but many, many thanks for one of the best hols. We’ve ever had!

Louise & Julian, Cheltenham, UK. September 2005

Where do we start... Italy never disappoints! La Torre was amazing; A truly wonderful and relaxing stay. Sandra and Paul are great hosts and seem to love their new life here at La Torre and Arezzo (who wouldn’t). Vas is, as everyone keeps saying, “the most beautiful dog in Italy”...endless games to be played. Il Bacio was so wonderful, romantic and comfortable. The weather, location and especially the hosts... all made for a wonderful holiday. Keep in touch.

Lee & Jon, Bath, UK. September 2005

La Torre was a fairytale experience... just when we thought we had seen everything we stumbled on another new experience. The people of Tuscany are its real treasure, everyone is so nice. Arezzo was marvellous and so friendly. We will always remember wine and lunch in the Piazza Grande, yes, the wine and lunch. Paul and Sandra what absolutely wonderful hosts, we felt so comfortable and welcome at La Torre. Nothing seemed to be a bother, we will miss Tuscany and La Torre. But most of all we will miss our new friends Sandra and Paul, until we meet again...

Jim & Nicole, El Paso, Texas, USA. August 2005

Having spent the winter running our ski chalet, it was wonderful to become ‘guests’ again. La Torre is just paradise! Such wonderful scenery and ambience. Il Bacio is so sweet and we both enjoyed our stay here so much. A week just isn’t enough – leaving here – longing for more though is never a bad thing. I’m sure we will be back! Thank you for making our stay so lovely and perfect. (The flowers are wonderful!)

Mel & Sean, UK. July 2005

What a wonderful fortnight we have spent in Il Bacio - a magical time amonst beautiful scenery. Wonderful gardens overlooking Arezzo with the fireflies ‘dancing’ over the trees in the evenings. Only one problem with our stay here, it has spoilt us for any other holiday we take elsewhere. Sandra and Paul have been perfect hosts – genuinely warm and friendly and with an obvious love of their newly adopted country. We will return home with warm hearts, fond memories, and nicely toned right arms from playing ‘fetch’ with the infamous and handsome Vaz! Thank you, best wishes and good luck for the future...

Natalie & Richard, UK. June 2005

From the moment we drove through your gates, we knew this would be a perfect holiday. We have very much enjoyed having such a peaceful, beautiful and convenient place from which to enjoy Tuscany. Every thing we could have possibly needed during our stay was already thoughtfully here and it was such a warm, comfortable and inviting place to rest our heads after long days exploring the nearby towns and countryside. We enjoyed evenings on the terrace soaking in the sunsets, the fireflies and views with a bottle of local Chianti. And could there be a better positioned pool anywhere? Thank you so much, we’ve had a wonderful time and take back memories to last a lifetime.

Jen & Tim. Australia/London. June 2005

What can we say....? Our stay at La Torre may have been short in time but will be long on memories. We may have arrived as guests but feel we are leaving as friends. Il Bacio is the sweetest place we have ever stayed in and together with the countryside, the weather and the company far outstripped our expectations. (Prepare to be inundated with ‘Geordies’) Best Wishes.

Sue & Michael. Newcastle. May 2005 p.s. Would you like to adopt us – please?

At the end of our honeymoon…. we look out at a honey moon…, from our window in il Bacio, the remnants of a full moon which has lit the night sky for past week. The past eight days have come to mean peace and relaxation in this place away from the bustle of life in the 21st century. The cottage was great, so well equipped and comfortable, plenty of hot water when needed and above all - private and peaceful. We have enjoyed ourselves beyond our thoughts with excursions to Siena and Cortona amongst the most enjoyable. But most of all the chance of a real break… with the welcome advice from our backseat hosts, Paul and Sandra, being both needed and heeded. Thank you! p.s. Vas is the only dog in Tuscany worth knowing!

Gary & Lucy, England. October 2004

Wonderful time spent in a place unspoilt by the advance of tourism. The best bits for us we found very close by! Sandra and Paul could not have made us feel more welcome and who could not be moved by Vas!

Andy & Amanda, Nottingham, UK September 2004

Il Bacio - A tiny piece of heaven in the Tuscan hillside. Tranquil, beautiful and spiritual. Hopefully we will return. Wonderful and friendly hosts, ever caring enough that all is well. Salute! Sandra and Paul

Claudia & Godfrey, Hertfordshire, UK September 2004

A wonderful week spent in the most beautiful surroundings, doing all our favourite things - eating, drinking and meandering! Our little house was perfect, cosy and romantic! Many thanks to Sandra and Paul for their warm welcome and much needed advice. p.s. Vas is the most handsome dog in Toscana.

Tui & David, UK. September 2004

A fairytale place, enchanting and beguiling - the perfect place for a honeymoon retreat. However, it was not just the stunning scenery, peaceful tranquilty or beautiful romantic il Bacio that made our stay so special, but the small touches and warm hospitality we received throughout our stay - thank you. The grapes were particularly delicious. Cortona was wonderful, Anghiari peaceful (highly recommended) and the Giostra del Saraceno amazing, we will miss all this in wet and windy England. We had such a fantastic time and you were both so helpful and friendly it really made a difference. With all our good wishes,

Ben & Jude, London, UK. August 2004

Just want to say a big thank you for the splendid week I enjoyed in Italy and il Bacio. Il Bacio is really charming with such lovely little touches all around, very traditional yet very comfortable. The walks have been lovely together with the beautiful scenery. Arezzo is such a lovely quaint city - and Cortona and Florence are so easy to get to. Paul and Sandra, and of course Vas, have made me most welcome, ensuring all my needs are taken care of.
A truly lovely week that couldn't have been better. Thank you so much! Grazie

Carol, Somerset, UK. May 2004

La Veduta

“We've loved the week we spent here in La Veduta, but it just went by too quickly. The weather was perfect and we had perfect days to travel to just a few of the many beautiful hill towns nearby. A highlight of the week? Well for us, it was the cooking course - so much learnt and so many wonderful foods to eat. We didn't have to cook or eat out for a couple of days! You have a beautiful property. Thank you for your hospitality and we hope one day to visit again."

I just got back to the office and wanted to send a note to thank you, once again, for helping to make our 2008 vacation such a huge success. Your property is amazing and I have passed this information on to the person who, I understand, is hoping to book with you in the near future. I just feel so lucky to have stumbled upon your web site. I hope you have a great vacation in Barcelona and I also hope that next year brings you many new and friendly guests. I plan to make your special tomato sauce this weekend and I hope it turns out as good as it did with your help. I am still smiling Sandra. The vacation really worked. Hope all is well with you and Paul and Vaz of course. Laurie (email)

Laurie & Michael, Hamilton, Canada. October 2008

“Thank you so much for sharing your Tuscan dream with us. Everything was perfect from exploring the garden and your house to travels further afield. Tuscany was all we had hoped for and more. Your advice on places to visit was 'spot on' - Poppi, Stia, Anghiari, Cortona were all a picture and so crammed full of history I've realised that we need more memory cards for the camera!! La Celle, just behind Cortona was a perfect end to our visit and a place I would recommend to anyone who reads this. Please also visit Gargonza - you won't regret it!" We head back to London fully relaxed thanks to you both and of course Vaz. We'll be Back!"

Scott & Viv, London, UK. October 2008

“Our second week here, the first in lovely il Bacio and now in La Veduta. What is there to be said that has not already said before ?? - hospitality above & beyond; Vaz as walk and playmate - the best dog ever; the setting, view and cottage - gorgeous; the advice, intuition, suggestions and counselling - Sandra and Paul know this land like natives, not recent emigrées; the little extras - bacio chocolates, Proscecco, home made jams, the surprise Vin Santo and cantucci from the cooking class; the countryside and all its tiny to fullsize towns, all worth rambling around in as well as its restaurants and good fresh foods. Favourites - Anghiari & San Sepolcro, Poppi & Stia, Monte San Savino, Cortona, Arezzo. Thank you for it all, We will bring it all home in our hearts. All best wishes."

Just a follow-up note to you all, Sandra, Paul and Vazzie-you three are a great team example of how to do it right-we absolutely cannot imagine that it was just a WEEK today that we left Italy. On the one hand we are still high from the whole experience, and on the other hand it seems like so long ago and we have to grasp at the memories. Thank you and thank you again, We are so in love with the region that we are already trying to figure out when we can work it in for a follow-up.(email)

Roz & Rob, Toronto,Canada. September 2008

“Once again we have had a superb holiday! With your advice we have been able to exlore the region further. The trattoria at Stia was wonderful, excellent Tuscan food at amazingly low prices. We visited Assisi which was breathtaking and surprisingly easy to get to. We still have many more places to see and visit so we shall be back again next year. Thank you again for your hospitality during our stay at La Veduta, not to leave out Vaz as he was great company in the mornings and evenings. PS from Robin: In a country where breathtaking views and art are everywhere I found the baptistery doors at the Duomo in Florence were outstanding; since we were last in Florence they have been cleaned and polished and look just like gold, they are worth the trip to Florence just to see them. Entry into the castle at Poppi is another outstanding moment - it was worth the trip just to see the fabulous staircase again. See you next year!!"

Robin & Jill, Cheshire,UK. September 2008

“It is hard to accept that we have to leave this charming cottage where we have been made to feel so much at home by Sandra and Paul, who have been such generous and considerate hosts. Vaz was also kind enough to take us for a walk in his woods but our stamina gave out before his. Our favourite restaurants have been Roggi's at Castiglion Fiorentino (for value and views over the roof tops and hills beyond), L'Anticana Cantina in Poppi (for a sophisticated and well presented meal in a lovely old town cellar setting).” Loggia Vasari in Arezzo over-looking the Piazza Grande and the Osteria da Luchino in Via Becharria, Arezzo. But there will many many more which a week has not been long enough to discover. It will be no hardship to come back to such a superb, comfortable and well equipped place as La Veduta, especially because Sandra and Paul have created a gem which we have been privileged to share for all too short a time."

Madelyne & Chris, Dorset,UK. August 2008

“We're going. I can't believe I won't be opening the door onto the terrace in the morning to breathe in the fresh air and watch the sun rise. We have had a fabulous time here and its all down to Sandra and Paul. All the hard work and effort you have put into La Torre has made it a magical place to stay. We will miss you and La Torre very much. We can't believe how very helpful, kind and generous you have been in making our 40th birthday holiday that more special and we much appreciate it. Below we have listed some of our favourite things from our holiday - they are not in any rank order... Dinner at 'Mad Woman's - the ravioli - the best ever, Massages and facials at the Spa, The delicious homemade fig jam, Vaz and his many tricks, The gorgeous chilled Prosecco on arrival, the secret fifth floor cafe overlooking the Duomo in Florence, the breathtaking Piazza del Campo in Siena, Cortona, Civitella and of course, Arezzo. Thank you again for all those very thoughtful, very special touches for us at La Veduta. Again thank you so much.

Jenny & Sandy, Yorkshire, UK. August 2008

“Thank you for sharing this beautiful Tuscan oasis of comfort and calm. We have enjoyed all the charming details and amenities of La Torre. Each morning enjoyed opening wide the shutters and front door, enjoying the cheerful geraniums, the lush gardens, fresh air and a great cup of coffee. Vas was such fun to take on long walks in the ‘forest’. We have nearly finished the towering bowl of fruit that was provided - delicious, and the bottle of prosecco was the best I have ever had. Also found that the terrace was perfect for dancing under the stars at night! Congratulations on making La Torre a dream come true.”

Tod & Susan, Los Altos, California USA. July 2008

“Thank you for being the perfect hosts and letting us share this special place for two weeks, the attention to detail in La Veduta is second to none, making it feel like a home from home. Your information and guidance have been invaluable, with nothing too much trouble. Everything has been perfect for the totally relaxing holiday that we had planned from the warmth of your welcome on our arrival to the glorious sunshine every day. The daily visits from Vaz were most welcome and he has the waggiest tail that we have ever seen. Wishing you love, luck and many many thanks.”

Andy & Alison, Yorkshire, UK. July 2008

“Dear Sandra, Paul and of course, Vaz. What an amazing two weeks in Tuscany and here at La Torre. Enjoyed, it not being too hot (we are from Arizona !!), it made it much easier to walk the incredible streets and museums of all the places we visited. il Bacio for our first week and La Veduta for our second were greatly welcomed retreats after days out in Siena, Assisi, Cortona, Rome, Florence to name a few! The overnight excursion to Cinque Terre was fabulous and your restaurant and accommodations were perfect. I felt as though our day trip adventures were complete by 'coming home'! The birds, the gardens - Molte Belle! The cooking class was really great fun and the results - our lovely lunch together really got our holiday off to a fantastic start. Best wishes and very warm thanks, We hope to return soon. ps. We can also attest to Vaz's special ability to hold five toys at once (I checked!) .”

Lisa & Tim, Arizona, USA. June 2008

“We have had wonderful dawn choruses every day - misty valleys and blue sky breakfasts. Loads of outings to the the sights and to shop the shops!! Lovely local walks to keep trim after our meals out or here in the garden. Great fun and very relaxing, Just what we needed. Thank you and Best wishes.ps. Your mandarin marmalade is wonderful, thanks.”

Richard and Lila, Hertfordshire, UK. June2008

“Dear Sandra and Paul, Thank you for helping make our honeymoon in Tuscany so special. From the warm welcome and thoughtful 'extras' to your adundant local knowledge a and excellent directions. It has all helped us enjoy a wonderful week at La Torre. After initially being a little aloof, Vaz has become a great friend, Perhaps the slices of Tuscan sausage helped him to change his mind about us. We hope to be back one day!”

Sarah & Luke, Wiltshire, UK May2008

“We have loved touring Toscana, it is a magnificent part of the world, if not heaven! However, the best part of the day has been coming "home". Thank you for making our stay so comfortable. We are so impressed and grateful for all the little extras that were totally unexpected. Many thanks also for tracking down the missing golf clubs (thanks BA!). Your knowledge and generous advice helped to make this a time we'll never forget.”

John & Juliana. Geelong, Australia. May2008

“We've had the most blissful and relaxing week in La Veduta. What a beautiful and comfortable place it is - we have loved our stay here - The perfect place to relax before the baby arrives! The position and garden at La Torre are perfect - so peaceful and yet only 10 moins. from Arezzo centre. Thank you for all your help and tips - it's great to get personal recommendations and not be permanently tied to the guide book following the tourist trail. We'd love to come back!”

Charlotte and Ned. London, UK. April 2008

“Our memories of our first trip to Europe are enhanced by the comfort and peacefulness we experienced at La Torre. Our hike rewarded us with a wonderful view from the top of the mountain that stretched for more than 50 miles. That along with the night view of Arezzo could never be successfully photographed, but they will be memories we will cherish for ever. Our thanks to you both for sharing your dream and the beauty of your haven. Best wishes for a beautiful future on your mountain! With heartfelt thanks.”

Ed & Marilyn. Excelsior Springs, Missouri, USA. April 2008

“I was anxious to return ‘home’ today to write something in the guestbook which would attempt to capture the wonderful experience we have had, not only in La Veduta, but also with you and Paul (oh, and I can't forget Vaz, what a cutie). The cottage was even cuter than I had imagined, the photos on the website were wonderful but the fact that every last detail was taken care of made it really stand out from other (VRBO) rentals. In fact, it seemed very much as if we were visiting old friends, and felt at home right away. A large part of our experience was having you and Paul share your excitement and enthusiasm about what this area had to offer and your eagerness to explore it as well was inspiring. The tips you had on places to go and things to see were priceless, we wouldn't have found such gems in any guidebook or on any website. This is a trip we will be telling all our friends and family about and recommending everyone visit La Torre. Your hospitality was very comforting to a couple of first-timers to Italy and because of that, we are not wondering if we will return but when…”

Katie & Brad. Denver, Colorado, USA. October 2007

“We have had many wonderful holidays in Tuscany but our holiday at La Torre was made even more special by a) the wonderful meal on arrival and b) the very informative but fun cooking course. It was so relaxed but we still learnt how to make several Italian dishes including perfect pasta sauces. Thank you Sandra, Paul and Vaz for making our holiday memorable and sharing your wonderful home with us. We hope to return soon.”

Ian & Shirley. Durham, England. September 2007

“We have had a wonderful, relaxing week, just what the doctor ordered! An absolutely beautiful location and wonderful hosts. Thank you Sandra and Paul for all your tips and info on the area, especially where to park! We shall miss our morning visits from Vaz, our evening visits too – we really enjoyed his company. I never look forward to writing in the guest book as it means our time here is over. You have a wonderful home and we are so glad to have shared some time with you. We will return to Tuscany and La Torre soon - our favourite place to be – Thank you again.”

Carole & Stewart. Kent, England. September 2007

“Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us. La Veduta was the most wonderful place for us to spend the second week of our honeymoon – the views are very special and La Veduta is so pretty. Thank you for your warmth, hospitality and guidance – thoughtful touches abound – maps, guides, basil and other herbs for cooking and even ‘hidden chocolates’ – bliss. Vaz is just the most handsome dog and his tail-wagging visits were a delight!”

Adam & Jo. Leicestershire, UK. August 2007

“We have read all the previous entries and feel that there is little to add! Our middle honeymoon week has been perfect – just what we both needed. Your obvious love for La Torre is evident in what you have achieved here – an idyllic retreat. Vaz is a joy! We enjoyed his visits. All in all, we’ve had a wonderful, restful and peaceful week. We will see you again soon and let all our friends know how truly different this holiday retreat is.”

Al & Debbie. Yorkshire, UK. August 2007

“What a wonderful holiday! La Veduta was everything we wished for, very comfortable and amid such natural beauty. Thank you both for your useful tips (What to see and what restaurants to visit). Tuscany is certainly a wonderful area the scenery outstanding, breathtaking at times. It was also great to have Vaz’s company from time to time. Thank you both again for helping to make our holiday perfect. We’re coming back next year!”

Robin & Jill. Cheshire, UK. July 2007

“We arrived a week after our wedding having spent 4 hectic but enjoyable days in Florence and Siena. On our drive over we wondered what La Torre would be like – it has more than exceeded our expectations! Perfectly remote, (yet close enough to civilization when needed!) stunning views and a lovely cottage set in beautiful gardens. A perfect honeymoon getaway! Thank you both for your hospitality and coming to find us when we were lost. Looking forward to telling all our friends about La Torre and hopefully coming back in the not too distant future.”

Charles & Jo. Bristol, UK. July 2007

"Dear, Sandra, Paul …. And Vaz… What a week! We have loved it here – so quiet and relaxing, it’s been just the break we needed. A perfect honeymoon! Starry nights watching the fireflies and hot days by the pool and such good company, Vaz! Thank you all so very much. We’ll miss it!"

Isabel & Steve. Sussex, UK. June 2007

"Thank you Sandra and Paul for a truly wonderful relaxing week in this beautiful spot. As special thanks too, to Vaz, for his delightful companionship."

Caroline & Paul. London, UK. June 2007

"Thank you for everything. We have had a wonderful second honeymoon and will never forget all of our day trips, hikes and outings. We loved the wine from Villa Cilnia and your olive oil. Vaz was wonderful and he made us feel so much at home. If you are ever in Hawaii we’d love to have you visit. Love and Aloha from the North Shore."

Nicole & Andi. Hawaii, USA. June 2007

"Thank you Sandra & Paul for sharing your home with us. We have had a wonderful time – our first visit to Tuscany and a memorable one, mainly due to the time spent here in the wonderful garden with the spectacular views. Thank you!"

Julie & Mark. Wales. May 2007

"Thank you for helping us make our honeymoon so special and our stay at La Torre one we will remember forever. We have eaten some wonderful food at the restaurants you recommended to us. La Veduta and its setting and views are amazing and your hospitality made us feel at home. Phil has specially enjoyed cycling up the hill on several occasions and ‘accidently’ cycling up Alpe di Poti is something we wont forget. Thanks once again. Ps. Thanks Vaz for your visits to La Veduta!"

Sarah & Phil, Oxford, UK. May 2007

"Thank you for making us feel so welcome at La Torre. It’s been a great place to spend our honeymoon. We’ve had a fabulous time but yet feel like we’ve only scratched the surface. There’s so much to see and do here and we’ve really appreciated your local advice. We already thinking of coming back again next year so maybe if we get into training now we’ll manage the hill on our bikes!!! Thanks again."

Fiona & Al. Stirling, Scotland. May 2007

"Thank you for introducing us to the delights of Italy. We have completely fallen in love with Tuscany, Arezzo and of course, La Torre – a great place for us to escape to after a very stressful year or so. We intend returning in the not too distant future to continue exploring the area and enjoy the Italian delicacies once more. Hopefully, next time, we’ll be more fluent in Italian..... Thank you."

Barry & Sonia, Cheshire, UK. April 2007

"We have truly enjoyed our stay here at La Torre. In fact we were hoping you and Paul would adopt us. Monday we go back to work. Rrrrrrrgh. While we both really enjoy our jobs, we can't help but wish we were still in Italy strolling the narrow streets, eating gelato and drinking vino rosso della casa (not all at the same time of course). We just can't say enough about our stay with you and Paul at La Torre. We received our wedding photos this week as well as downloaded many of the ones we took in Arezzo. We showed these photos in a slide presentation at today's party. Everyone just loved it.
Because we planned our trip solely through research on the internet and relied on the feedback from others, if you ever want to use us as a reference, we would be more than happy to give a glowing recommendation. Booking stays over the internet can be scary for some.

Chris & Heather, Florida, USA. April 2007

"Thank you for your wonderful hospitality , we have truly enjoyed our two week stay here at La Torre. The weather was perfect! Thank you for making our vacation so memorable.
With love and thanks."

Joe & Kathleen, Cooperstown, NY, USA. April 2007

"We arrived with great anticipation for our stay in the pretty cottage we had spotted on the web. The setting, the gorgeous weather, our wonderful hosts and our new canine buddy far surpassed our expectations. One of the many surprises we enjoyed during our visit here was the hiking. We had great hiking weather and saw some wonderful scenery. There are some lovely walking routes right outside the door. We will miss this place ... and Vaz...and hope to return soon."

Jen & Nick. Oakland, California. USA. October 2006

"From the first moment of arriving Sandra and Paul made us very welcome - not forgetting Vaz. La Veduta is most enchanting, set in beautiful surroundings with stunning views. Our Tuscan supper was delicious and Sandra and Paul have gone to great lengths to attend to every little detail to make our stay enjoyable. They have been very helpful with local information, on history and interesting places to visit. This is truly a tranquil setting to relax and unwind. We hope we shall be able to return. Many thanks."

Clelia & Dave, Berkshire, UK September 2006

"Two beautiful sunny weeks at La Torre has been the perfect way to celebrate and begin my retirement. We have enjoyed our stay with you and want to thank you for your helpful hints and generous hospitality. We will always look back on this holiday with very fond memories. You have done a wonderful job restoring your cottages and making them a comfortable, relaxing get-away in fabulous Tuscany. With love and many thanks."

Liz & Tim, New York State, USA. September 2006

"Michael and I found this a perfect place for our vacation. The holiday was lovely - we were so comfortable and your hospitality was wonderful - from the delicious arrival dinner to your advice on how to proceed on the next part of our trip and everything in between. We would never have found La Celle, Anghiari or Civitella had you not suggested them and they are the highlights of the trip. Michael also enjoyed the "cooking with truffles" lesson. Thank you so much - we definitely want to return. With warmest affection. p.s. Vaz is wonderful."

Shirley & Michael, San Francisco. USA. September 2006

"From the moment Mum and Dad returned from their first trip to La Torre Ashley and we haven't heard the end of how wonderful and idyllic it was - it only took us two years to make the trip to experience and fully appreciate their words of praise. All four of us can't deny the hospitable environment, the stunning location and the simply relaxed and chilled-out ambience that La Torre exudes upon arrival - it truly is the embodiment of a perfect Tuscan retreat…."

Ashley, Sian, Jacquie and Brett, Scotland and Dubai. August 2006

"Thank you for sharing this paradise with us. You prepared everything so well for us that we immediately felt free to relax and calm. Thank you also for sharing Vasco - he's wonderful! Thank you again for this wonderful perfect holiday.
p.s. Sandra! The pasta from the 'old nonna' was as delicious as you promised!

Bernadette and Oliver, Frankfurt, Germany. August 2006

What a wonderful place - we are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and this week in the middle of our holiday has been heaven. This is a magical place and we will certainly be back. Thanks for your welcome and care of us - we feel like friends not guests. A wonderful week in a special place.

George & Sally, Santa Barbara, California. USA June 2006

We feel priviledged to have had a week to enjoy the beautiful and historic surroundings that you call home. The cottage was perfect for the two of us. We loved the walks in the hills and coming home to a friendly, wagging tail (Vaz!) and all your guidance on our forays around the area. The church in Bagnoro was a very pleasant surprise and should not be missed. Thanks for all your hospitality.

Sue & Ron, Calgary, Canada. June 2006

A perfect introduction to Italy for both of us - so nice to have a first-class lovely house to stay in as a home base as we took off on our daily adventure of learning a bit about this wonderful country. You have taken care to make the cottage feel like home - even providing us with a part-time pet. From Saturday to Saturday it could not have been more perfect - the firefly lightshow on our last night was a fitting farewell to La Torre. We will definitely recommend you to our friends in the US. Thank you.

Maggie & Harry, Michigan, USA June 2006

La Torre was the perfect way for us to spend our second week of vacation in Italy. We were immediately impressed with everything around La Torre and felt very lucky to have been here while the Giostra took place and see 'our' quarter win! We truly appreciated your wonderful suggestions for visits, discovering the outlet stores, attending the Bagnoro cherry festival and the local winery Villa Cilnia. After each daily adventure we looked forward to returning to the fabulous pool to relax and cool off from the afternoon sun. We had memorable evenings sipping wine under the Big Dipper which the fireflies flickered about the Tuscan landscape. We feel privileged to have discovered and vacationed on an historic Tuscan site - your passion for La Torre is evident and thank you again for sharing a piece of your dream with us.

Jerome & Meaghan, Chicago. USA June 2006

A stunning location from which to explore the key and several hidden historical towns, together with the beautiful surrounding countryside - a real find… Spring allowed us to see La Torre and Tuscany at her best (possibly?). La Veduta is superb and the best that we have come across in all our travelling - a new benchmark those others will have difficulty meeting.
Thanks for your kind hospitality

Fiona & Richard, Sydney, Australia. May 2006

This is getting to be a habit!
Third visit in less than a year… and each time we find something new and something the same. Sandra and Paul as welcoming as ever and this time we saw the hoopoos, heard the cuckoos and watched the irises unfurl outside our window. Lucky, lucky people who have their time at La Torre to look forward to!
See you again soon!!

Ann & Dave, Bucks., UK. May 2006

Finally we stumbled across a place that delivered everything it promised… and more. La Torre was everything we could have asked for; quiet and serene, comfortable and homely. In a spectacular location yet located within easy distance of the best Tuscany and Umbria have to offer (we know because we visited them all!) Our only disappointment - we didn't stay for 2 weeks - we would have enjoyed a few more hours relaxing on the deck.
Thank you for making our first stay in Tuscany so memorable.

Tarnya & Jamie, Victoria, Australia. April 2006

Thank you Sandra, Paul and Vaz for making our first (but definitely not the last) foray into Tuscany be so enjoyable.

Ann & Steve. UK. October 2005

We’ve had a wonderful time and did well with the weather. It’s been sunny every day, enabling us to eat al fresco which we love and to see your beautiful place at its best. We have also been able to have a reasonable stab at maintaining our fitness regimes (!) I think my 50 lengths in the pool every morning surprised even me and we doubt if Tuscany has ever been used as the location for polar training (Jonathan). We loved it all! Thank you.

Clare & Jonathan, Welwyn Garden, UK. September 2005

Thank you so much for a wonderfully relaxing honeymoon week – just what we dreamed of when planning it last winter. The cottage is lovely – charming and comfortable – and you made us feel so welcome. We’re looking forward to cooking our newly learnt Tuscan cuisine for friends back home! The countryside is stunning – whether it was wandering around Cortona or Arezzo or reading by the pool –the backdrop has been superb. Thanks once again for a wonderful week. We shall return to London with many happy memories.

Carl & Elizabeth, London, U.K. August 2005

What a fantastic week – more than we dreamt of. I firmly believe that we leave feeling (and hopefully looking) totally different from our arrival. We felt so at home in such comfortable surroundings but sadly our house has no pool – and certainly not one with such a view. Sandra, Paul and Vas have made our visit so special. Thank you so much for everything – just what we needed.

Anna & Jeremy, Leeds, UK. August 2005

Our second visit here and once again we have enjoyed the special atmosphere at La Torre. Once within the gates we relaxed and enjoyed the warm welcome from Sandra, Paul and, of course, Vas! The pool is, as expected, very well placed, no disturbance to the lovely garden and what a view! Everything we need is at hand and thanks to Sandra, we have even made our own Limoncello.!! La Veduta is, without a doubt, the best equipped house we have rented, we leave for another part of Italy looking back over our shoulders, We will be back!

Wendy & Margaret, Glasgow, Scotland. August 2005

Two whole weeks here – anticipated for ages – an exquisite hideaway to just stop and be. Sandra and Paul have been very sensitive to our needs and when we wanted a chat, they were there - and when we needed quiet we had the run of these wonderful gardens. Lovely walks, concerts, lots of shopping – excess baggage on the way home! The pool was the finishing touch – kept beautifully and a dreamy view. Finally you have the most courteous, friendly dog in Vas – we have really enjoyed his company. We return to England fitter but rested, thanks for sharing the history and love of this place with us. See you soon!

Ann & David, July 2005

Sandra, Paul and Vaz, Thank you for making our ‘middle’ week in Italy so blissful! Okay, we didn’t go out much but why bother when so much of Tuscan history, nature and wildlife are here within your wonderful walls. And it was our honeymoon.... We couldn’t have wished for better hosts for a week that will always have a special place in our memories. Your love of Italy and your home makes it not only a relaxing place but also an inspiring place to stay. Thanks for everything.

Alan & Sally, London, June 2005

We could write so much about our wonderful two weeks in La Veduta, you have been the perfect hosts. After a day spent sightseeing the surrounding towns and cities, we loved the drive back up to ‘our’ mountain retreat. (The best views in Tuscany!) This has been our best holiday ever. We hope to explore the rest of Italy, but I’m sure we will find it impossible to find a place so perfect. We shall be back, thank you....

Karen & David, Sussex. May 2005

We were greeted so warmly on our arrival which was appreciated after being on the road for nearly a week. Sandra and Paul have made it so easy to feel at home as the house is so perfectly equipped, with many thoughtful extras. This part of Tuscany and nearby Umbria is breathtaking but only a week leaves you longing for more and I’m sure we will come back soon. Oh! And the pool – such bliss at anytime of the day with its great views of Arezzo. Thank you (with the help of Vaz) for making our stay really lovely and restful.

Maureen & Stephen, London, May 2005

We have had a marvellous week here at La Torre. Sandra & Paul have been excellent, friendly and considerate hosts and the apartment is beautifully furnished and is excellent in every detail. We also spent many enjoyable hours playing billiards on the wonderful antique table. Tomorrow we start our return drive to the UK but will remember our week here with great affection - our hosts could not have been warmer.

Dot & Rod. U.K. September 2004

When we arrived, the clock in the house said 6.10. When we left it said 6.10. Time stood still; at least we wish it had. A very friendly couple, Sandra and Paul, plus a mad, but friendly Vas were a strong part of our adventure. Peace in a lovely setting with wonderful views. We couldn't have picked a better week, clear blue skies + temperatures in the 90's. The area is lovely, dotted with hill towns, including Poppy, Cortona and especially Anghiari, the last amazingly deserted, for such a sublime spot. We were completely relaxed and the accommodation was great, immaculately furnished. Whatever you do, don't install a TV! Thanks for your help and kindness,

Julie & Peter, England. July 2004

After anticipating a truly memorable holiday in Tuscany for some years, it did not start as we planned! A diverted flight, lost luggage, two attempts at car hire and near loss of handbag, all in a matter of hours! A call to Sandra & Paul and they came to the rescue with hospitality beyond the call of duty and made our arrival and stay the memorable holiday we had always planned. We have been made to feel even more at home by the black waggy body known as Vas as we have a brown one just the same! We could not have imagined Tuscany more truly represented than by La Torre, exquisite taste presented by truly friendly host and hostess. It's so nice to vacation but so much better to visit friends. We trust that you consider us friends as we do you. p.s. You have not seen the last of us!

Brett & Jacqui, Scotland. July 2004

What a lovely place for a relaxing break. The ambiance surrounding the ancient La Torre makes it a wonderful place to return to after a sightseeing tour around the area. Arezzo is a charming city, lovely to stroll in, and of course, shop!! The major accolade, however, goes to Sandra, Paul and Vas for their care and attention to every detail. They are attentive, yet never intrusive. Thanks for everything,

Margaret, Scotland. June 2004

After having travelled the world arriving at your historic, enchanting place was astounding. What a setting! One could not dream of a better spot in the heart of Tuscany. Well, we're no angels but we felt like we were in heaven for a week and have been cared for like family. You have provided an oasis for our bodies and souls to be refreshed and memories that will last a lifetime. We travelled as far as we dared - Siena, Cortona, Grieve in Chianti, Florence - an unforgettable week - winding streets of the many hill towns, picturesque sights, museums filled with art… The cottage and your home is the most and best we could dream of, spectacular views, peaceful surroundings and all under the Tuscan sun! We will certainly stay in touch and look forward to returning.

Paul & Tamara, New York, USA. June 2004

Well, what a great time we had here! What wasn't provided by the wonderful, seductive Tuscan surroundings was provided by La Torre, Paul and Sandra and the always welcoming Vas. In true Roman style, we came, we saw, we cooked & ate, we suffered defeat at the billiard table and we often enjoyed, (possibly too often) the local wines. Most of all we were (more than) comfortable & felt at home. In the absence of music, with seemingly no effort, Santana and Chicago Blues suddenly materialised! So thanks for everything & thanks for being there for us.

Ray & Livia, Switzerland. May 2004
